Tomorrow Marks the 1/2 Way Mark on the Chemo/Radiation

Angela had another good weekend. We started around 8:30 to make church at 11:00... and we still managed to be 30 minutes late. After another good Burn Paige sermon we headed off for a family outing. We picked up 3 Happy Meals and headed to park by the Zoo. Christian managed to drop his hamburger before the first bite. Luckily daddy's meal came with two. From there we headed to the zoo joined by friends and family. We all had a great time. Angela got a little burned last time.... this time she put on plenty of sun screen. This weekend also marked the first time Angela started loosing some hair. While she still has a lot of hair .... the loss is more pronounced where the radiation treatments are focused. She is starting to where a cap. She still looks great in her Tulane baseball cap. Tammy took her wig shopping last week. She still doesn't need it yet ... but the day is coming.

Tomorrow marks the 1/2 mark for the first phase of her treatment. She is starting to tire out more quickly and I can tell the treatments are beginning to take their toll on her energy. Even with the chemo/radiation wearing her down .... she is giving 110% at therapy to walk and regain her mobility. She goes everyday and works hard for at least two hours. Her therapist Chad is giving her better than his best. When I'm pulling up to pick her up he is always working her to the last minute. I can't say enough about how they have helped her regain some of her mobility. I no longer follow her around the house stabilizing her with a gait belt. She is walking on her own with her cane and a brace on her leg. Angela is also back in her bed. She can get up on her own now when shes needs to. She has come a long way since her surgery.

We both have our moments of hope and despair ... but all in all we're both holding up pretty well. Again thanks to everyone for your prayers and kindness. Please keep praying .... we're holding out for a miracle.

You thought you could, you thought you could......you made the 1st half and now and the finish line is in sight with your biggest cheerleader getting you through every minute of every day!!! So today is called Happy 1/2 done Tuesday!!! Hip Hip Horray!!

I, the Lord, am your Healer." Exodus 15:26 If he is for you, who can be against you!!

Glad you had a good weekend. Keeping taking those steps forward because pretty soon, these difficult days will soon be a memory.

Here is your joke for the day...
The pro football team had just finished their daily practice session when a large turkey came strutting onto the field. While the players gazed in amazement, the turkey walked up to the head coach and demanded a tryout. Everyone stared in silence as the turkey caught pass after pass and ran right through the defensive line. When the turkey returned to the sidelines, the coach shouted, "You're terrific!!! Sign up for the season, and I'll see to it that you get a huge bonus." "Forget the bonus," the turkey said, "All I want to know is, does the season go past Thanksgiving Day?"

Thanks David for updating. Thinking and praying for all of you. David, can you email me please.

Love, Lowry

Hallo David und Angela

Hanna and I were devastated when we first heard of the brain cancer, but thanks to the website and updating by David we can now rejoice with you both that things seem to be heading in the right direction. You two were always a remarkably dynamic pair, but your strength and optimism in this crisis still amazes us. Keep up the effort. We wanted to let you know that our thoughts and hopes are with you. Delightful Halloween photos, thanks. Keep us posted on the website. It would be wonderful to see you 2 + 3 in Bayreuth in the not too distant future. We had our first snow over the weekend, but the bike paths are still clear.

It is HUMP Day!!! Yeah!!! You are already on the downside of your treatment..

I know you are absolutely worn out but I know you will continue putting one foot in front of the other until you reach the finish line.

O.K. this is kind of corny but if it makes you smile, then it is worth it..

Why did Grandma bring you one shoe on Thanksgiving?
She heard you'd grown a foot!!

Since you are growing tired and worn out from all those treatments, I thought this was appropriate...
But those who trust in the Lord for help will find their strength renewed. They will rise on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not grow faint. Isaiah 40:31

Love and many thoughts and prayers,
Lowry

I hope the 2nd half of treatment is like the 2nd half of a nice vacation ...passes quicker or at least it seems that way. The strength and spirit the too of you have is awesome. I'm praying that God will pour out his blessings on your family, doctors, therapists and anyone else that is a helper to your beautiful family.

You can get through this difficult days when you are so tired and weary!!! You are almost down that hill...saying I thought I could, I thought I could!!! Can't wait to hear the update when it says, Angela is finished with all treatments and she is 100% cancer free!!! That will be a celebration and many alleluias!!!

Tomorrow evening I am going to the Jeremy Camp concert. He is a Christian singer. I will be sure to lift you in prayer during that concert.

Here is your joke and hopefully one that brings one of many smiles today...

David & Angela,

I haven't written before now, but I have called and spoken with Diane & Sam several times, and followed your recovery on this blog. Sounds like your progress has been amazing, and you are now on the DOWNHILL SLOPE of the treatments! WOO HOO!!!CONGRATULATIONS on how far you have come!

Please know that Cathy & I have lifted you both up in prayer many, MANY times since your unexpected journey began. Wish we were close enough to help out personally with food, etc... (hey, David - I can even load crickets if I have to! (at least I THINK I still remember how!)).

Angela... your courage & perserverance are an inspiration to everyone - KEEP IT UP! YOU CAN BEAT THIS!

Much Love - and continued prayers - from the Georgia crickets...

Pota-toes!!

As I type this what comes to my mind is how very tired you are and I hope you can find comfort so that you can truly "rest" in him. The divine physician knows exactly what you need.

Dear Angela and David,
I have kept up with your progress often through this site.It is so wonderful to know that you are half way through treatment, with such an amazing stamina. You are and have always been such a remarkable person and its such a blessing that you and David have each other. The pictures of you,David, and the kids are soooo beautiful. When you are at a low point, all you have to do is look into the eyes of those precious babies and you get the lift you need. Angela, my family continues to pray, as does everone at work. May God continue to bless you as you are lifted in prayer.
Love,Diane
