Christmas & More

Kid's Rules Apply (no time to worry about grammar, punctuation or run on sentences, etc.)

Angela has traditionally cooked a seafood gumbo for her family for Christmas. She would make her usual run to Tony's Seafood and buy enough crab meat and shrimp to where you could almost eat the gumbo with a fork.... talk about good. Well this year our friends at Tony's Seafood provided Christmas Eve dinner for us. They loaded us down with fried fish, fried shrimp, boiled crabs (do you know how hard it is to eat boiled crabs when you have two little boys who also eat boiled crabs...anyway), all the sides and two pies. It was a feast. Sebastian, Angela's brother-in-law, kept the gumbo tradition going by bringing a pot to add to all the delicious food from Tony's. The kids opened their gifts from the family and we eventually got them to bed for Santa's visit.

Christmas morning my sister and her family came over to cook us brunch and play with the kids. The boys got motorized jeeps from Santa. They put on their firemen outfits and road around in their jeeps all day putting out fires and helping people. Karlie and Vance, my niece and nephew, did a great job keeping them entertained. Kat got a baby doll with a stroller. When she wasn't riding with her big brother Alex in his jeep, she was holding her baby doll and strolling her like a big girl. Angela really enjoyed herself watching the kids play and open toys.

My B-Day (the 26th) my sister came over after work to give us a night. The night out turned into a much needed nap at home and an opportunity to soak in the tub. It was great!

Overall Angela has been really tired lately. She is finally feeling the effects of the radiation treatments. She has had quite a few headaches because of some mild swelling of the brain.... again the radiation's side effects. Christmas has been a little bittersweet for her given her lack of mobility, fatigue and the uncertainty of what lies ahead. She plan's on having on better Christmas next year ..... THANKS and PLEASE keep up the prayers!

Time to get back with kids ... they want to play on their "computers" Santa brought them.

P.S. I am not real sure this is that funny for us but here it is..
A mother and her child were at a wedding.

A little boy looks at his mom and says, "Mommy, why does the girl wear white?"

His mom replies, "The bride is in white because she's happy and this is the happiest day of her life."

The boy thinks about this, and then says, "Well then, why is the boy wearing black?"

P.S. Thanks for the updates. I truly appreciate them. Have fun with the kiddo's.

Sounds like you all had a WONDERFUL time. It is a blessing to be able to enjoy those children. Makes me almost sad since mine are all grown, BUT, I do have my grandsons now to enjoy. With all the prayers you will too. I pray for you every day and know that GOD is working a miracle. I love you Angela. Brenda S.

Good Sunday Evening Angela,

I hope you did not watch the Saints!!! Oh well, maybe next year.

Is your strength coming back just a little??? Remember that it took many days of Radiation to wipe your energy level so it won't come back overnight!!! (and then again, you don't need me telling you that!!!)

Summon Your power, O God; show us Your strength, O God, as You have done before. Psalm 68:28

Love and thinking of you this evening!!!

A man is walking down the street one day when he notices a very small boy trying to press a doorbell on a house across the street. However, the boy is very small and the doorbell is too high for him to reach. After watching the boy's efforts for some time, the man moves closer to the boy's position.

He steps smartly across the street, walks up behind the little fellow and, placing his hand kindly on the child's shoulder, leans over and gives the doorbell a solid ring.

Crouching down to the childs level, the man smiles benevolently and asks, "And now what, my little man?"

The boy replies, "Now we run!"

Good Morning,

It was so great to be able to spend time with all of you on Friday. I absolutely loved watching the boys ride the horses and play! Kat is precious as well. I hope the time here helped everyone's spirits. It sure did ours. This is going to be a new year of determination, good results and much progress.

Our Father, be especially with Angela and David, Alex, Christian and Kat in this New Year. Give them a peace that passes all understanding. Take away all doubt, guide them and watch over them as only You can.

In Your Precious Name, Amen

We love you big! Eugene & Debi

Happy New Year's Eve Angela,

I can't wait to see what the new year has in store for you...but until then, I saw the this and wanted to share it with you on the last day of 2007...

I Asked the Lord to Bless You
I asked the Lord to bless you
As I prayed for you today,
To guide you and protect you,
As you go along your way...
His love is always with you
His promises are true.
And when we give Him all our cares,
You know He will see us through...
So when the road you're traveling on seems difficult at best,
Just remember I'm here praying
And God will do the rest...

With Love and a Heart full of Hope for you,
Lowry

Hope Your Thursday is going alright??? I am wondering if you are in flight yet???

Don't think you are alone for one minute during your trip to Duke. I know many people around this country will be lifting you up in prayer.

I sure hope you have alittle more energy than yesterday and that the swelling is resolving without too much medication.

Love and still stormin' heaven for you...
Lowry

P.s....
An old, tired-looking dog wandered into the yard. I could tell from
his collar and well-fed belly that he had a home.
He followed me into the house, down the hall, and fell asleep in a corner.

An hour later, he went to the door, and I let him out.
The next day he was back, resumed his position in the hall, and slept
for an hour. This continued for several weeks.
Curious, I pinned a note to his collar: "Every afternoon your dog
comes to my house for a nap."
The next day he arrived with a different note pinned to his collar:
"He lives in a home with ten children -- he's trying to catch up on his sleep. Can I come with him tomorrow?"

Good Saturday Evening Angela,

I am thinking you are in N.C. visiting Duke. This weekend is the celebration of the Epiphany at church. This is when the maji went to the stable bearing their gifts.

I am praying that when you are at Duke, you receive many "gifts" from what your doctors have to say. I hope that you are at peace with the direction of your treatment and that each day on this road, you receive many gifts...

Praying and thinking of you,
Love,
Lowry

P.S. Why did the police stake out the baseball field???

They heard that the players were stealing bases!!!HEHE

Hello Angela,
I've never posted a note on someone's blog before, but here goes. I've been trying as much as possible to keep up with your progress by reading all the messages. And, of course, I've been praying much for you, David, and the children. I've also been having my church lift you before the throne of God. I must say it sounds like you've done the impossible. You've surpassed everyone's expectations with your hard work and the way you've tackled the chemo treatments, radiation treatments, and therapy. I know it has not been an easy task, nor is your hard work finished, but I believe that God has a reward for you as long as you acknowledge Him and give Him the glory! Keep it up, Angela. And, David, take care of yourself too, so you can stay strong for Angela and the kids.

Sending my love to all of you,

Amy Darbonne

Happy New Year!!!
