Angela

Last week I called St. Joseph Hospice to admit Angela for hospice care at home. Unfortunately even with the help of the home hospice nursing staff and some really great family and friends, we could not bring her discomfort under control. As of yesterday she is at St. Joseph's Carpenter House with a full time medical staff to alleviate her discomfort. As I sit here typing this she is sleeping and resting well.

David,

I'm so glad she is finally getting relief from her pain. And maybe you can get some rest as well. Please let me know if you need me to come sit and sing to her there. I'll do it quietly, so as not to "disturb" anyone else with my noise.

Just know you are constantly on our minds and hearts.

Hey Dave,

We join the rest of your friends in that Angela is ALWAYS on our mind. Prayers for you are not far behind her!

I am thankful that Angela will get some relief, and I hope you get some rest. You are quite the man (and have been since I met you in 1976!) - and while I know you want to take care of everyone in the Fluker house, we need you to take care of YOU!

Know that you are lifted up, and I hope you feel some of the many prayers of hope, peace, rest and Gods goodness that we all send out.

Call Kevin or I if there is anything we can do for you. My cell is below.

I love you and your precious family.

David and John Michael,

I just remembered something that I meant to tell you both about. This past Saturday Dave and Angela were fresh on my mind and one of our Pastors at our church said something that was so fitting...

God does not promise us a life with no suffering. He promises that He will be there when we go through that suffering.

David, God knows you are there... and I hope that you can rest in that place.

xxoo,
Jayne

This is my Daily Bible Verse today and I wanted to share it with you.

"Comfort, comfort my people," says your God. Isaiah 40:1

I pray that God gives you both comfort, peace and rest as only He can.

Love to you all,
Lynne

David, I haven't spoken with you since Oct 2007, when you informed me of Angela's condition. However, I have been a frequent visitor to this site. Please know that you, Angela, and the kids have been and will continue to be in my family's thoughts and prayers.

This note is for Theresa,

For the past few days, I have been thinking about you. I know back in those college days, Angela use to talk about you all the time. She especially talked about Tiffany. In her eyes, Tiffany was everything and simply adored her.

I can't imagine how it feels to have your heart broken and watching your sister suffer so much and so long. I pray that in these final days of Angela's life with you that you are able to just enjoy her presence. Know that I am praying for you and your family during these very difficult and sad days.

May God's love surround you and provide you the comfort that you need.

Love, peace and HOPE

David,

I spoke with Steele this evening and heard the good news that Alex will be at the Lab school this fall. Congratulations!

You and Angela have been on my mind since your last visit to Duke. Since we missed seeing you then, I thought we'd get together next time. Sadly, it seems that God may have other plans. Please know that both Clay and I are keeping all of you in our prayers.
